Where Otter may fit better
- You're a student or teacher with a .edu email and want the listed 20% discount.
- You want live transcription you can follow during the meeting, which Otter lists on its free plan.
- You mostly meet in one of the six transcription languages Otter lists.
Where Fireflies may fit better
- You want transcripts connected to other apps; Fireflies lists integrations and API access on paid tiers.
- You meet in languages beyond Otter's list (Fireflies' extra languages are in beta).
- Your organization needs a FERPA data agreement and is ready for an Enterprise plan.
Before you record anyone
- Tell everyone the meeting is being recorded and transcribed. Some states require everyone's consent.
- Check who can see the transcript, and whether the notetaker shares summaries with all attendees automatically.
- In schools, ask your administrator before recording meetings that involve students or families.
